Birthing and bereavement suites are not commonplace in the United States, but the need for these spaces is underscored by statistics showing that 1 in 4 pregnancies end in loss and every 160 babies in the U.S. is born still. Last year, the Center for Disease Control announced a 3 percent increase in infant mortality rates across the country.
The Omaha Suite Social is an opportunity for the community to learn about the mission of No Foot Too Small, understand the growing need as statistics continue to rise, and support the construction of this essential initiative to change the standard of care for families who will not be bringing their babies home. With a total budget of $264,000, construction is scheduled to begin October 15 in honor of Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day once funds are raised.
