Celebrating Cael Black
When Garrett and I found out that we were going to start our family on Valentines Day 2013 we were beyond excited and thrilled. The pregnancy went smoothly until the last trimester, then I started to swell. It started slowly, but continued at a steady pace, until I got to the point where my shoes didn't fit, my tongue swelled to the point it was difficult to talk, and Garrett wrapped my legs in Ace bandages every night. I tried speaking to my doctor about my concerns but was brushed off as "every pregnant woman swells" and I was being an anxious first time mom and no further action or tests need to be done. Slowly his movements became less and less. Until mentioning to a nurse at the hospital tour that I hadn't felt him move for a few days. I was immediately hooked up the BP cuff revealed that I close to the point of having a stroke/seizure, but the doppler produced silence. An ultra sound confirmed the unimaginable, our unborn son was dead and his death was preventable.
